About The Process...

Refinishing and repairs are completed according to the
customer's wishes and the furniture's uses. The decisions
you and I make regarding
the anticipated function and
use of the furniture lead us directly to what I recommend in terms of finish durability, appearance, and maintenance. The final decision, of course, is always yours.

The first step is always to evaluate an existing finish. Often, steps should be taken to preserve an original finish rather than refinishing, particularly in the case of a valuable antique.
If we agree to remove an existing finish, we then choose whether stripping or sanding (or a combination of both) is best. Our stripping uses the most environmentally friendly
solution on the market.
Repairs, if needed, can be
structural or cosmetic. I can fabricate
parts, and offer
veneering. Finishes vary, from hand-applied oil
and wax,
to polyureathanes and spray-on lacquers and varnishes.

At the mid-point of the process, theFurnitureSmith
recommends a face-to-face consultation
. This is when final
refinishing decisions
are made.

Also, theFurnitureSmith sells its own exciting lines of custom
and
refinished furniture.
